Captain George Robert Green DSC RFA RIP

Captain Robin Green, who has died aged 74, commanded the landing ship Sir Tristram during the Falklands War, braving extreme danger by entering shallow waters where naval escorts could not offer protection until disaster struck his ship and Sir Galahad at Fitzroy in the single bloodiest incident of the conflict. After three weeks of unceasing operations under constant threat of air attack in his lightly armed ship, Green was ordered in early June to take Sir Tristram, loaded with ammunition and fuel and with only the bad weather for protection, to Fitzroy harbour. There unloading proceeded slowly because the smaller landing craft which were supposed to meet him had been diverted to other tasks. Read More Here RIP

Fire Mission ( Tardenois)

Interview With a retarded Walter Mitty.
I was drawn to this headline Interview with Falklands MC Winner at the .arrse forum.
thinking it would be interesting to feature on Rogue Gunner. I didn’t read all the comments at first I watched the video and was immediately drawn to the fact that he was not wearing a South Atlantic Medal (With Rosette) plus some of the other medals were from WW2. Maybe a civilian could laugh this off but I find it offensive to the memory of genuine Falklands Veterans who paid the ultimate price and the few of us that are still around today. It always the same these Walter Mitties always seem to be ex Para or Marines or even SAS. This sort of thing should be a criminal offence the same as masquerading as a police officer. I know they take a dim view of this sort of thing in the US.John McKenery needs dragging outside and given a demonstration of P company by a real life Para of the same age, he might then have wished he was masquerading as pay corp. REMF. Sad little man that he is.

Here is a real
Military Cross winner.Medical assistant Kate Nesbitt braved Taliban fire to tend to a comrade shot in the neck during a gun battle in Afghanistan in March. Congratulations to Kate, she has more courage in her little finger nail than the coward Walter Mitty above.

Waitrose Under Fire For 'Offensive' Army Ad I haven’t seen the add so its difficult to comment other than what I have read, I don’t think that Waitrose would want to intentionally offend servicemen and their families, although I can understand how insensitive it would be a to a family that has lost a loved on in Afghanistan.

Argentina veterans divided over Falklands 'abuse' case Although I do not condone what Argentina did when they invaded the Falkland Islands, I do have sympathy with the Argentine soldiers who fought there. 27 years has taken away any bitterness I have had towards them, I obviously cant speak for the Falkland Islanders. What happened to these young men was criminal, but the way their superior officers mistreated them showed why they lost in the first place. We were also cold and wet but we were also extremely professional in the way we carried out our duties. I know many British Falklands veterans have suffered and the suicide have been well documented but imagine how much harder it would have been for us if we had lost? These men are no longer my enemy, infact I have something in common with them all. We were all soldiers and fought in War together. I would gladly sit down and have a drink with these veterans which is more than I can say for a Labour politician. Think how the Falkland Islanders would have been mistreated if the Conservative Government of the day hadn’t bothered to send a task force. I am proud to say I fought against Fascism and liberated British tax payers from what would have been their own prison camp in the South Atlantic.

British army vets work with Afghan farmers Captain Miles Malone is fast becoming known as the "Herriot of Helmand" for his work with Afghan farmers.
The 28-year-old, halfway through a seven-month deployment at the British forces hub of Camp Bastion, is spearheading a pioneering veterinary clinic.
Miles' main role in the Army is to provide preventative healthcare and emergency care to the dogs used to search out IEDs and guard camps where troops are based, but he's become the force behind a new project to improve local Afghans' standard of living. I wish Captain Miles Malone all the best for the future for this great work he is doing.

Student Who Urinated On War Memorial Spared Jail If I had to guess I would say Laing has a deep seated politically motivated hatred for our military, he knew full well where he was taking a piss. He is lucky he lives in such a tolerant society because of the sacrifice of the men who’s names he desecrated. Or perhaps he is just a typical British student?

Unmanned drones planned in immigrants crackdown Gordon Brown was said to be delighted by this new initiative, he liked the idea of drones helping tens of thousands of illegal immigrants find their way to the UK and thus getting Labour more votes.
