Here are two South African Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) The Ratel and the Caspir. I was wondering how these vehicles would stand up to the terrain and I.e.ds of Afghanistan? I would assume they would be slightly cheaper to make than those British vehicles in theatre at the moment, but as for whether they would withstand an IED that’s a question you sometimes don’t want to find out.

S.A makes alot of cool looking military equipment(guns, tanks, apc's) but their usually not worth a damn :)
I was contacted by a SA guy who wants to join the British army, he asked me to check of these vehicles, I suppose they have never really been tested to the max?
hard to say, not to sure of SA standards. i would feel much better in a MRAP thats for sure!
30 years of border war with Angola...I think these vehicles are tried and tested...much rather drive around in one of these than a landrover or hummer....that's for sure
